Waitomo Glowworm Caves - New Zealand

The Waitomo Glowworm Caves, located just outside the main Waitomo township on the North Island of New Zealand, is a famous attraction because of a sizeable population of glowworms that live in the caves. Glowworms or Arachnocampa luminosa are tiny, bioluminescent creatures that produce a blue-green light and are found exclusively in New Zealand.
The Waitomo Glowworm Caves were first explored in 1887 by local Maori Chief Tane Tinorau accompanied by an English surveyor Fred Mace. Local Maori people knew of the Caves existence, but the subterranean caverns had never been extensively explored until Fred and Tane went to investigate. They built a raft of flax stems and with candles in hand, floated into the cave where the stream goes underground.

Solar Impulse Flight - Across The USA, Powered By The Sun

The experimental airplane Solar Impulse completed its first flight across the United States this week. The Swiss-made plane, powered only by the sun, is the first to make the trip both day and night without using conventional fuel. It started the journey on May 3 in California and ended on July 6 in New York. Pilots and creators Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg took turns manning the single-seat flyer, which is powered by about 12,000 silicon solar cells and has a wingspan of a jumbo jet. The next step is a trip around the world in 2015

Workers load a wing of the Swiss sun-powered aircraft Solar Impulse into a Cargolux Boeing 747 cargo aircraft on February 20 at Payerne airport in Geneva. The Boeing will carry the Solar Impulse HB-SIA prototype aircraft to San Francisco for a series of flights across the US from the West to East Coast.

Supermoon, Around The World - 2013

Photographers around the world looked up to the sky this past weekend to capture the "supermoon." This is the phenomenon when the moon makes its closest approach to Earth, appearing 30 percent brighter and about 14 percent larger than a typical full moon. It occurs about once every 14 months and is technically called a perigee full moon. At 221,823 miles from Earth, the supermoon was a feast for the eyes.

700 Years Old Wooden Tourist Trek Up Thousands of Feet on Mountain in Chaina

These vertigo-inducing pictures show tourists navigating an extremely narrow and treacherous walkway along cliffs at a scenic mountain in China's Shaanxi Province. The precipitous Chang Kong Cliff Road on Haushan mountain was built more than 700 years ago by hermits seeking ‘immortals’ they thought were living deep in the mountains. The walkway is only a foot width wide and has been built clinging to the absolutely vertical cliff. One misstep would send pilgrims plunging thousands of feet down into the valley. These days, anyone brave enough to navigate the path does have to wear a special safety harness

Perhaps its better not to see? A daredevil visitor to Huashan Mountain's Chang Kong Cliff Road walks the narrow pathway in a dense mist which obscures the background... and the lethal drop below

26 - Foot Anaconda, Snaps Incredible Photos!

These remarkable images show the enormous 26-foot (eight metre) anacondas of Mato Grosso in Brazil searching for prey in the murky depths. They were captured by brave diver and snake enthusiast Franco Banfi, 53, who joined the beasts in their natural habitat armed only with a camera.
The Swiss diver and his team visited the region for ten-days. Speaking to dailymail.com, “As the snake had just eaten it didn’t take much interest in us,” said Banfi. “At the first moment it’s scary because you don’t know the animal and everybody says it’s dangerous. But after a while you understand that nothing happens if you respect the snake. I have never been so close to a snake like this before. But I think a small poisonous snake is more scary than a big one. At least you can see the anacondas clearly and know what they’re doing,” he added. The 53-year-old snake lover went out in the snake’s natural habitat with just a camera and took these remarkable close-up photos of huge snakes resting on the river bank.

Terrafugia TF-X The vertical take-off flying car

The first flying car – the Terrafugia Transition is on its way soon, while we wait for the first fling car itself, Terrafugia is already planning on developing another vertical takeoff car that’ll do 200 mph alongside other amazing features. Slated to go on sale after the Transition hits market sometime in 2015-16, the new model dubbed Terrafugia TF-X will be a plug-in hybrid flying car that will allegedly fly at a top speed of 200 mph.
The idea behind creation of the TF-X is clearly to enhance safety, convenience and sustainability of personal transportation in the future. The electric motor on the TF-X will help the flyer take off, while a built-in gas engine will propel it on flight. According to Terrafugia, the four seater TF-X flying car will have autopilot functions for just about everything in there, so you won’t need a pilot’s license to fly it, just tell it where to go and it will fly you!
