The design includes more than 22,528 computers and 192 custom keycap which are attached with fabric, a custom keyboard and software assets as well as interactive video projection and painted aluminum frames. It sets out line by line transcript of the electronic communication that the artist and manufacturing in creating enabling it to sculpture in its own archives!

Ten years ago, 19 men trained by al-Qaeda carried out a coordinated terrorist attack on the United States that had been planned for years. The attackers simultaneously hijacked four large passenger aircraft with the intention of crashing them into major landmarks in the United States, inflicting as much death and destruction as possible. Three of the planes struck their targets; the fourth crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. In a single day, these deliberate acts of mass murder killed nearly 3,000 human beings from 57 countries. More than 400 of the dead were first responders, including New York City firefighters, police officers, and EMTs. It was one of the most-covered media events of all time, and after a decade, the images are still difficult to view. These attacks and the global reaction to them have profoundly shaped the world we live in, so it remains important to see the images and remember just what happened on that dark day.

The first Nikon Small World competition was in 1974. Since then, Nikon has recognized the efforts of those who turn microscope photography into art. 2011 is the 37th year for the competition, and around 2,000 photographs were entered.

Nikon was generous enough to give Neatorama readers a special close-up view of some of the entries in this year's competition. This particular collection is called Lives Within a Drop of Water. Its a chance to marvel at the world of microscopic life we would never be able to see with the naked eye. Other collections will follow in the days ahead.

It may not have been the most appropriate choice of phrase. But when Nik Wallenda was told he was to be allowed to attempt a tightrope walk across Niagara Falls, he said: ‘I’m thrilled to death.’

If the 33-year-old daredevil survives his 1,800ft-long walk on a two-inch thick rope over the famous site, he will become the first to ever achieve the feat. The stunt will take up to 40 minutes through mist and spray, 220ft above the bottom of the gorge.

Mr Wallenda, who lives with his wife Erendira and their three children, has been tightrope-walking since he was two. In 2008 he walked and then cycled across a high-wire suspended from skyscrapers in Newark, New Jersey. The feat won him a place in the Guinness Book Of Records for the longest and highest bicycle ride on a high-wire. He currently holds six Guinness World Records.

Snow as deep as 15 feet isolated areas in Romania, Moldova and Albania on Tuesday and turned a power plant in Kosovo into a park of dazzling ice sculptures.

In a winter harsher than many can remember, energy workers struggled mightily Tuesday to break the ice that has encapsulated Kosovo's main power station in Obilic. Steam from the plant's vents coated its pipes and buildings with ice and snow, turning them into unworldly, unrecognizable objects of art.

Since the end of January, Eastern Europe has been pummeled by a record-breaking cold snap and the heaviest snowfalls in recent memory. Hundreds of people, many of them homeless, have died in the frigid weather and tens of thousands have been snowed in.

Authorities have been forced to use helicopters and army trucks to deliver food and medicine and to help the sick reach hospitals.

About 4,000 Romanian coal miners volunteered Tuesday to buy tins of food from the money the company gives them for hot meals and donate that to the worst-affected snow victims in eastern Romania.

Officials said five Romanians died in the past 24 hours due to the cold, bringing the total to 79 weather-related deaths. Neighboring Moldova also has been hard hit by snow, and both countries have seen schools, borders, highways and train services shut down in some areas as temperatures plunged to minus 9 degrees overnight.

Orbiting at breakneck speeds, every last bit poses grave dangers and means huge insurance premiums for operational satellites, and it threatens the International Space Station, too. Every time two orbiting objects collide, they break up into thousands more pieces of debris.

Most women would be content with a bouquet of flowers on Valentine's Day. But one man in China requested 9,999 red roses before asking for his girlfriend's hand in marriage. And realising his partner's penchant for fashion, Xiao Fan had each blossom carefully stitched together to form a sweeping, floral bridal gown. 

But there was a reason for Mr Fan's order of 9,999 roses. The number nine represents 'forever' in Chinese culture and in Beijing's Forbidden City - the most well-preserved imperial palace in China - the emperor is said to have requested 9,999 rooms to be built. 

According to legend the number 10,000 was reserved for gods, therefore the emperor believed the number 9,999 would take him closer to heaven and bring him good luck.

Lying in his reinforced bed, 58-stone Keith Martin yesterday defended the estimated £50,000 a year he costs the taxpayer – by comparing himself to others who receive help, such as smokers or injured rock climbers. Believed to be the world’s fattest man, the bed-bound 42-year-old cannot even roll over on his own. He is visited by seven carers a day, who wash and change him in two shifts, plus two nurses every other day who tend to his bed sores.
